2004 I got a grant to go to China for three months. During 22 days I worked with the chines 4000 year old philosophical book "I Ching" and poems of the swedish writer Tomas Tranströmer. The meeting of west and east and the traditional chines paintings made me work in a spontaneos way and to paint down my daily experience. As I could not understand the mandarin language and they could not understand english so the visual language become most important.
I used the book I Ching as an oracle with its 64 hexagrams and let it translate my daily work. The poems was a complementary .I wrote the text of daily phrases on my work together with the sign of the hexagram. The book translate and explains the painting not the other way around that I illustrate the hexagrams and the understanding of the philosphy.
